Today’s millennial home buyers are looking for a place to call home that’s steps from dining, shopping, and entertainment. Mixed-use properties that include a combination of residential and commercial real estate are becoming ideal communities for the younger generation to call home.
With this in mind, Sekas Homes has built 4-level luxury townhomes in the Mosaic District in Fairfax, Virginia, outside Washington, D.C. Our team at Staged Interior had the opportunity to recently stage one of these properties. The 2,775 square foot home, listed at nearly one million dollars, boasts a contemporary style with clean lines and mixed metals.
Lead home stager, Maggie Ryan, chose a softer color palette to play off the gray paint and other materials highlighted throughout the property. She decided to use black, a neutral that helps ground the room, and a touch of blue, a versatile color that creates a sense of calmness.
In the main living room, our team strategically placed sleek furnishings in the space to create a conversation area around the fireplace. We opted not to use bottom-heavy, bulky furniture that would weigh the room down. Notice we also doubled-up on glass coffee tables to provide the right scale to make the room feel bigger.
The kitchen had a large island that we highlighted with a few place settings. This room also had a place for a large dining table and access to a bar area that we defined using two accent chairs, a small side table, and a rug. It was important to define each area and create one cohesive look by keeping the décor clean and uncluttered.
When staging a townhouse, one of the most important accessories is lighting. Our team saw that the property couldn’t rely solely on natural light, even for daytime showings, so they used clear glass table lamps and metal-based lamps to add shine without bringing in bulk.
Even in winter months, we choose to stage outside spaces in order to showcase a unique feature of the property. We staged this rooftop deck to help potential buyers envision how they could use this space year-round. Need help staging a listing? Contact us today to learn more about our services.
